Pleasant Hill , California. Director of Development, Doug Gore of Mashita Electronics announced that CSA International has certified the newest offering of Mashita Electronics home energy tools. The recently certified product is a consumer-operated meter that calculates the operating costs of 110 volt appliances. Named the "Watt-MinderT", it presents actual operating costs by the hour, month and year for home and office appliances. The CSA Certification indicates that the product complies with the applicable requirements set by ANSI, ASTM, NEMA and UL Standards.
Certification by an accredited OSHA laboratory is a double benefit, claims Gore; the consumer can rely on an independent source that the product is safe to use, and the producing company gains the assurance that it is putting a safe product into the marketplace.
Mashita created the Watt-MinderT in order to provide consumers with a low cost method to manage home electrical energy bills. After the brown outs and rolling outages experienced by much of California, consumer's awareness of energy conservation has increased, say's Gore, and the Watt-MinderT is a tool that can further help to measure and manage personal energy usage. The US Department of Energy estimates that a new refrigerator will save as much as $1,000 in energy costs during its lifetime as compared with the energy usage if older models.
Gore explained further that the "Watt-MinderT" is not a high-tech product, but rather an intelligently designed watt-meter suitable for household and business use. Battery operated, the Watt-Minder provides the consumer the option of measuring the actual energy usage of their own appliances, based upon their own energy costs. The Watt-Minder can be set for each utility providers cost of electricity. "Considering the vast impact of seemingly small adjustments by the millions of electrical power consumers, knowledge from a simple product like the "Watt-MinderT" can have a significant, -more- positive effect on the conservation of limited resources, and noticeable reduction in negative environmental impact of power generation"
The Watt-MinderT will be distributed through major home improvement and general merchandise retailers throughout the United States.
